Management
As part of its advisory service, the System directly manages the James Prendergast Library in Jamestown, a co-central library
of the System. The System management concept, approved by both Boards, has resulted in closer cooperation and improved
library services for all System patrons.
System management is effected by making a member of the System staff (the Director or someone designated by the Director)
responsible for operating the library. This person works with the Library Board and is its local library director. Management is
on an annual contractual basis. The fee is paid by the Central Library (in lieu of local director's salary) directly to the System for
specified services.
Jamestown Business College is currently contracting with Prendergast for interlibrary loan, and general consultant services.
Management service may be available for member libraries or libraries of other types on a temporary or longer basis. Contact
the Director for information.
