Material Selection
The System compiles and distributes special book selection lists for member libraries such as:
1. Basic book lists (titles which all libraries should have)
2. Current lists (the best of the new books)
3. Subject lists (books on a special subject which is in demand)
In order to ensure pre-publication ordering and therefore
early receipt of new and popular titles, Publishers Weekly & School Library Journal forecasts are used as order lists.
The System aids and advises member libraries on purchase and storage of magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals and
on audio-visual and micro-form materials.
Over 2,000,000 books per year are circulated to public library patrons in the
System's service area.
