The Library Journal (November 8th, 2012 issue) announced America’s Star Libraries:  The Falconer Public Library is a Five-Star Award Winner and #1 within the category of the $100,000 to the $499,999 Budget Categories. This Award is sponsored by Baker and Taylor’s Bibliostat records and based on the 2010 Data released by the Institute of Museum and Library Services(MLS). 

The Library Journal Index of Public Libraries covers an evaluation of over 7,500 libraries in the United States.  Categories that are Criteria: Circulation of material per capita, Budget, Library Visits, Programs, and Internet Use.

The Falconer Public Library has received this Award for 6 years in a row.  Sue Seamans, Library Manager, credits the Falconer Village Board (and the Town of Ellicott Board) Budget that supports  a Community Service via the library.  The library is centrally located (Community Building) and offers services throughout the area.  Falconer Central School  Students (thanks to a valued rapport with FCS Personnel) and Jamestown Community College students frequent the library. Early child inter-action of the library offered via the Pre-School Story Hour Program (Laurie Becker, Director) provides a source of reading awareness and participation.  The Automated SIRSI catalog is a huge Service as it provides quick reference to books/nonbooks available via the Chautauqua/Cattaraugus Library System for use and interloan purposes. Programs for all ages from Story Time, Digital Camera Classes, Knitting, Computer, and Stamping Classes are just part of the services offered.  Six Public Access Computer terminals are available for 52 hours per week to the public.   Daily newspapers and over 70 magazine subscriptions are also popular items.

The Staff  priority is being  friendly and dedicated to the  Falconer Library Users.
