November is Picture Book Month

Another good excuse for a program!  Have one each week!

Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that celebrates the print picture book during November.  On the website, check out the Activities tab for printable activities from many different authors and the Promo Kit tab for a poster, a 3-sided standee and shelf talkers you can print.   http://picturebookmonth.com/

Website of the Week:

Website of the Week will be archived on the System’s website.

Congress.gov will replace Thomas.gov, November 2013.

Locate the following on Congress.gov:
-Live sessions from the House and Senate on the first screen
-Nine videos explain each of the common legislative stages
-Congressional Record, 1995-Present (Congressional Record is also available as an app.)
-Status and details of bills
-Biographical information on Members of Congress

Congress.gov will also be available via an app.

To get prepared for the transition from Thomas.gov to Congress.gov, sign up for a Congress.gov webinar. The next two webinars are scheduled for Oct. 17 and Nov. 14. Go to: http://tinyurl.com/mepalsx
